I have been working for Sari Bari for the last 8 years of my life.
My job is machine sewing, though I have learned much more than that. I have learned how to be together in a community during difficult times, how to lift each other up and I
have learned how to be lifted up, too.
Before working at Sari Bari, I was a maid. I wasn’t respected, I didn’t have a good life.
At one time in my life, I was constantly worried about when I would have food again, and now I eat well. Sari Bari gave me the opportunity to make my own home and give my family a wonderful life. My children can go to school and become literate and I have access to the benefits that I need. I don’t have to worry about treatment. But, my life wasn’t always like this. Sari Bari has given me the chance to introduce myself as an employee, to feel respected
